GROUNDED IN CLASSICAL TECHNIQUE AND ART HISTORY

Having immersed myself in art history as a kid exploring the Art Institute of Chicago, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Louvre, and the Museé d'Orsay to name a few, I couldn't get enough of that world. I went on to study Art History and Economics at Duke University and continued to do so at Savnnah College of Art and Design. I draw so much inspiration from history and am so grateful all that I've learned from studying the work of great artists from the past.

BLEND OF REALISM ABSTRACTION AND SURREALISM

In my artistic exploration, I frequently employ surrealist themes to weave a narrative that captures the elusive sense of un-reality we all encounter in life. Surrealism becomes a powerful tool for expressing those moments of serendipity, when events align seamlessly or occur with perfect timing. These instances offer a glimpse into the interconnected fabric of the universe, a tapestry that binds us all. By embracing surreal elements, I seek to unravel the mysteries of existence, portraying the magical dance between the ordinary and the extraordinary. Each stroke on the canvas becomes a portal to the ethereal, inviting viewers to witness the cosmic symphony that unfolds in the seemingly mundane moments of our shared human experience.

SPECIALIZING IN NON-TRADITIONAL

PORTRAITURE

My approach to portraiture is a captivating dance between the representational and the non-representational, infusing each piece with a dynamic blend of energy, spirituality, and emotional resonance. Beyond capturing a mere physical likeness, I delve into the essence of my portrait subjects, aiming to understand their personalities and unique qualities. This intimate connection allows me to chase the spark of recognition, transcending the surface to make people feel truly seen. For me, the human form is a canvas of endless fascination, and the alchemical process of imbuing it with character and energy is where the true magic unfolds in my artistic expression. Each portrait becomes a visual symphony, resonating with the vibrant essence of the individuals portrayed.

EXPLORING TECHNOLOGY AND CONSCIOUSNESS

My artistic journey is a dynamic blend of various styles, seamlessly weaving together realism, classical art, surrealism, abstraction, and innovative techniques. Embracing the possibilities of technology, my process involves harnessing generative AI, 3D modeling, and rendering techniques to breathe life into dreamlike forms. With proficiency in tools like Solidworks and Rhino, I navigate the realms of 3D design, creating intricate and imaginative structures. The marriage of traditional and cutting-edge approaches allows me to craft artwork that transcends conventional boundaries, playing with realistic textures and lighting to evoke a sense of wonder and uniqueness in each piece.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

I have had a love for the arts as long as I have had memories.  I sold my first painting in the second grade.  I honed my talents selling commissioned portraits and interior murals starting at age 15.   While the theme of my art is always evolving, most recently I have focused on spiritual curiosity and the intuitive arts.  My roots are in realism and my head is in surrealism, and my technique lies somewhere in the middle.  My art is part representational, part symbolic, and generally focused on seeking to reconcile scientific fact with spiritual knowing.

THE PAINTING PROCESS

TECHNIQUE & APPROACH

I specialize in using water soluble oils to create unique and vibrant paintings. My techniques involve layering and blending colors to bring depth and texture to my artwork. Each stroke is carefully executed to capture the essence of the subject.  My approach involves layering several different painting traditions to create a textural richness that resonates at a distance as well as at close range.

A lot of my work includes hidden elements that are worked into textural elements.  I also like to add a layer of "calligraphic doodles"  to think infuse the painting with the energy I evoke as I'm in the act of creating.

PORTRAITURE

Portraiture is another artistic avenue  I explore wherein figurative, energetic, and non-representational elements converge. In every artwork, I embed an aspect of portraiture, but certain pieces deliberately capture the spirit of individuals. Through a story-based and energetic intuitive approach, I infuse paintings with intriguing details that provide emotional context, unveiling the essence of the subject.
