BEYOND TRADITIONAL PORTRAITURE
To me, portraiture is as much about someone's energy as it is about their likeness. Are the brushstrokes smooth and even tempered or are they frenetic but enhusiastic. After a certain point, the way I see painting almost indistinguishable with the way I see people's energy. I strive to create a multidimensional likeness in my portraiture.

If it is important to you that it looks like the subject physically, that's not a problem. But beyond that, there is a resonance about my portraits that make my painting subjects feel truly seen.
GETTING TO KNOW YOU
I like to gain an understanding of how the subject of a portrait sees themself. We'll chat (in person or on Zoom/Meet), I'll ask questions, you'll tell stories. It's a delight and a pleasure to paint you or your loved one. I have painted people's relative who have passed on. I have painted people at seminal moments in their lives, or with their friends and family. I always strive to infuse an element of the intangible in the finished product. Special details like embedded stonesor gold leaf edges and inscriptions make it personal.
